Learning Brian Boru on piano

Brian Boru is an Irish march – it’s a “going to war” march with history going back 1000 years.  He earned his name as “Brian of the Tributes” [apparently Boru means “of the tributes” ] because he collected tributes from minor rulers of Ireland and used them to restore monasteries and libraries that had been destroyed during invasions. He was lost in battle to the Norse in 1014 and is known as the last great High King of Ireland.  Here is a you tube of the famous Chieftains playing this great tune.

The tune is in three sections.  I have taken each section and gone through it slowly.  I hope you enjoy learning this tune by ear.

Here’s the A Part

B Part

C Part
